My name is Steven Sabella and I am one of Yorktown’s Varsity Wrestling team’s captains. I am 16 years old and have been training with Judah since the summer of 2011 in preparation for my upcoming winter season. I kept my goals in sight at all times and worked tirelessly to finally turn them into a reality. I know that Judah had prepared me perfectly for a victorious season, and I was out to get it.
During my wrestling season this year I wrestled at a healthy weight of 170 pounds. My natural weight was around 175, so making weight wasn’t too much of a struggle this year. As for the before, making 145 pounds was a different story. Every time I stepped on the mat this year, I felt nothing but pure dominance, mainly because of my strength. Techniques are essential to have, but having strength to back it up really makes the complete package. It’s clear to me that I was finally starting to wrestle to my new potential.
I completed my season with a record of 42-5 and won my first ever section championship. This qualified me for states, which was an experience I will never forget. I took 8th in New York State, not to mention with a broken nose in my third match out of five. I can honestly say I would never have accomplished any of this without having Judah in my life. Judah trained me on how to be tougher, stronger, faster, and more explosive. He’s one of the smartest people I know. I learn something new every day training with him. Being “Judah Trained” is one of the smartest moves I’ve made throughout my life.
